To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Yamato, production has begun on Space Battleship Yamato, The Final Chapter
Work on the first television series started in 1973. So next year, we will welcome Space Battleship Yamato‘s 10th anniversary. To commemorate this a final chapter for Yamato will be created.
Said to have brought Water to Earth over 4 billion years ago, the Water planet Aquarius, influenced by a galactic collision, is approaching Earth from 3,000 light years away. Simultaneously, the planet Dengil, possessing advanced scientific capabilities, and the strongest mecha army in the universe, is plotting an invasion of Earth. To avert these two crises, Yamato sets sail…
In addition to this epic story, what will be most exciting for Yamato fans is the return of Juzo Okita, the former captain of Yamato, who perished in battle against General Dessler.
The film, scheduled for release next March, will feature intriguing elements throughout, including the fate of Susumu Kodai and Yuki Mori’s love, the final appearance of Yamato, and the mystery of Dessler’s empire.
Furthermore, Yamato‘s equipment has been significantly upgraded. We’re excited to see how the epic battle against the formidable Dengil mecha army will be depicted on screen. This thrilling spectacle will be presented on 70mm film, a truly fitting way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Yamato.
Ahead of its release next spring, Columbia records released an album titled Prelude to Final Yamaato on June 22. Furthermore, from September onward, various promotional events, including screenings of the previous three films and concerts are planned to be held throughout Japan. Yamato fans nationwide should keep their eyes peeled for announcements and participate! New Yamato information will be available through this fan club.
