The ending theme for REBEL 3199 Chapter 7, Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation, has been announced as Toward the Far Distance, Toward Eternity, performed by Junko Yagami. A music video for the song has also been released.
Toward the Far Distance, Toward Eternity is based on the piece Birth of a New Galaxy, composed by Hiroshi Miyagawa for the 1980 film Be Forever Yamato. The new arrangement was created by Akira Miyagawa, with lyrics penned by Yohei Matsui, who also wrote the lyrics for the Chapter 4 end song, Waves of Light. Notably, Junko Yagami also performed the ending theme song for the original Space Battleship Yamato, The Final Chapter.

Comment from Junko Yagami
“I never imagined that, after more than 40 years, the day would come when I could sing a Yamato theme song once again.” I still vividly remember the thrill of writing Love Supreme as the theme song for the 1983 film Final Yamato, a piece recorded live with an orchestra under the baton of Hiroshi Miyagawa. Upon receiving the music for this new song, I immediately sensed the grand, cosmic vision crafted by Akira Miyagawa. It is a song that, unusually for me, stays in a lower register throughout. I truly hope you enjoy listening to it.
Comment from Akira Miyagawa
My late father, Hiroshi Miyagawa, was a huge fan of Junko Yagami. And as it happens, she began her own singing career inspired by The Peanuts. Yohei Matsui and I stepped in to set the stage for this collaboration. Could this be considered a “new” song from Hiroshi Miyagawa after all this time? Perhaps it is better described as a long-overdue act of filial piety.
Comment from Yohei Matsui
In 3199, every character is confronted with the question: “How should I live?” They grapple with the realization that, from the moment of birth, each of us is tethered to a specific time and place, an anchor, if you will. I wrote the lyrics for Toward the Far Distance, Toward Eternity with those who choose to weigh anchor and set off on a journey in their mind, mirroring Yamato’s voyage through space and time toward the ultimate horizon. A person can only kindle a single flame of life, yet that very light serves as proof of one’s existence, and has the power to illuminate the path for someone else. That is the sentiment I poured into this song.
Additionally, seven new character visuals have been unveiled. Reflecting the title of Chapter 7, each character is depicted against a background representing one of the seven colors of the rainbow. (See them all below.)
