We begin with a montage of scenes depicting what looks like dual operations on both Earth and the Moon. The partisan [guerilla] forces are finally making their move against Dezarium.
As Saki Todo describes the action, we see Nanbu and Ota (probably on Earth) and a handful of troops charging forward.
Voice of Saki Todo: A major operation is being planned on Earth. The mission’s objective is to neutralize the Grand Reverse…
Space Cavalry troops force their way into an ornate office as Makoto Kato (finally off the sidelines) evades gunfire.
In Alphon’s commandeered home, Isidore looks in shock toward whoever is at the other end of his pistol, and Alphon himself forcibly removes Mother Dezarium’s comm badge from his neck in a gesture of open rebellion.
Saki Todo finishes her line: …and reclaim the Ginga.
With the title card, we cut to Yamato soaring over modern-day Tokyo…
…with two Japanese F2 fighters hot on its tail. Then a close up of Kodai trying to absorb this unexpected twist of fate.
Voice of Susumu Kodai: What is this?
Note: the Japanese term used here can colloquially be translated to “what on Earth is this?” which is beyond silly in the best of ways.
On 2207 Earth, Yuki speaks authoritatively (possibly at the other end of Isidore’s pistol).
Voice of Yuki Mori: Your (kind’s/people’s) memories have been overwritten.
Note: “anata tachi” is used, which can mean you and your group, but also “your (group).” We know Alphon escaped this memory rewriting process, meaning she’s simply talking about Dezarium folks in general, and not him.
The fighting on Earth intensifies, with Toru Hoshina himself firing on an enemy.
Yamato rockets forward, being surrounded by red energy. On Earth, the dome atop the Grand Reverse releases a tremendous blast.
Voice of Shiro Sanada: This…is the Witch of Uralia.
We see what may be an alternate-history vision of Domon and Ageha on the bridge, under the control of Mother Dezarium.
Voice of Ryusuke Domon: History will change/be altered. It can be changed.
In another time/place, Shima pulls hard on the steering yoke.
2026 citizens get a helluva view from the Tokyo Skytree of Yamato‘s close flyby.
On the moon, someone slams the end of a pistol into the glass case holding the comatose Megumi Kanzaki. If the editing is to be believed, it’s Makoto.
Voice of Makoto Kato: I won’t let you die alone! I’ll bring you back…no matter what!
On the surface of the Garmillas lunar base, Space Cavalry armored suits go head to head against a Dezarium Garm-Biu.
One can assume that soldiers fighting on the moon would wear pressure suits, so that may be where we are in the scene at left. That’s definitely where we are in the scene at right, since that’s Ginga firing up its main engine after far too long.
So much for the Dezarians caught in its jet wash!
The title comes up again with Chapter 6, Azure Labyrinth and what may be the Grand Reverse blowing its stack.
Caroline Raiden and Shigeru Sakamoto react to something building up energy (probably Ginga, since their ship crash-landed on the moon in Chapter 5).
At right we see Dezarian Colonel Bresol, who was charged with bringing Ginga‘s Cosmo Reverse back on line. If he’s the same cloaked individual we saw three scenes ago, his career may be just about to end.
And in a stunning final shot, the seal over Ginga‘s WMG is surrounded by energy. The scene resolves to give us a long-awaited beauty shot of the ship bursting free of its lunar lockdown.
Voice of Saki Todo (?): Ginga, sail faster than the moonlight!
Note: A very Fukui-esque line. In essence, it means “run/sail/drive/flee beyond the speed of moonlight,” befitting the ship’s location on the moon.
Chapter 6, coming to theaters June 26!
But why is Makoto wearing a Space suit and how did she reach the moon?
