Yamato Mechanics Part 23

Pleiades-class & modified Pleiades-class battleships, and Hyades-class destroyers

From Yamato 2199 to REBEL 3199, a series explaining the mechanics of battleships and other vessels appearing in the Space Battleship Yamato remake series. In the 23rd installment, we introduce the two Pleiades-class and modified Pleiades-class assault battleships, and the Hyades-class destroyer of the Dezarium fleet. We delve into the mysteries of the Dezarium fleet, which originated from a civilization that does not use Wave Energy!

Agility

Although its phase-shifting armor is less effective due to its small size, the Hyades-class ships use their agility and maneuverability to close in on enemy ships and utilize Heavy Nucleon Alpha Cannons.

Maneuvering wing

The modified Pleiades-class features large, stacked attitude control units as maneuvering wings. This is presumably due to the increased power output of the engines.

Auxiliary equipment

The Pleiades-class and the modified Pleiades-class destroyers are equipped with auxiliary engines, located at the bottom of the hull, separate from the main engines. They also have a control room at the bottom of the hull, in addition to the bridge located on the upper part of the hull.

Galiades

The flagship of the modified Pleiades-class fleet supporting the “historical revision plan.” The luminous lines, also seen on the Great Pleiades, extend to the area around the bridge and down to the base.

Caterpillar Attack fighter

Sometimes referred to as a “Caterpillar-type fighter.” During dogfights, it deploys high-maneuverability wings on the sides of the fuselage, which work in conjunction with the high-maneuverability thruster in the nose to exhibit excellent agility.

Dezarium’s ships operate on phase energy, but they do not have a main engine like a Wave engine. Phase energy is extracted from the home planet via deep subspace to supply bases, and sent in various directions via mid-depth subspace. Automated planets like Goruba and Grodez-class annihilation battleships in the operational area extract this energy and supply it to the phase cells of each ship to power them. Ship engines are equivalent to electric motors, with the output determined by the capacity of the phase cell. Therefore, a fleet must operate primarily around Goruba and Grodez-class ships, limiting their operational area.

After making contact with the Earth/Garmillas fleet in the 23rd century, the Grodez-class ships were completed based on their hull shapes. Previous front-line warships were characterized by a disc-shaped hull with a conning tower. The fleet deployed to conquer earth in 2207 was also almost entirely of this type, with the exception of transport ships.

Dezarium does not employ positron beam cannons, but instead uses Heavy Nucleon alpha and Heavy Nucleon Beta Cannons, which utilize Heavy Nucleons (hyperons with Atomic nuclei) as its main weaponry.

The Heavy Nucleon Alpha Cannon is a real-axis beam weapon that utilizes the confinement effect of normal space (A space), where energy is locally conserved and does not easily diffuse outward. Heavy Nucleons containing hyperons are introduced into a Heavy Nucleon convergence reactor to form a phase field. To suppress decay, quantum phase transformations are performed, and the lifetime is extended by stabilizing, inter-quark interactions. At the time of firing, it switches to decay acceleration mode, causing rapid heavy nuclear decay through symmetry breakdown to generate and eject a high-energy plasma.

This weapon system causes intense interference and neutralization with the target’s field armor and Migozezer coating, melting the armor. The plasma’s self-electric field (Coulomb field) makes charged particles easily repelled and dispersed, resulting in an extremely short beam range.

For this reason, it is the main gun of the Hyades-class destroyers, but is treated as a secondary gun on the Pleiades-class and modified Pleiades-class destroyers. The Heavy Nucleon beta gun, the main gun of these classes, is an ultra-long-range weapon that utilizes the “dispersion and amplification characteristics” and “confinement effect due to topology” of Beta space.

The Heavy Nucleon Beta Cannon utilizes the fact that in subspace (Beta space), energy is quantized and dispersed, yet accumulated an amplified by vacuum energy. It temporarily deploys the firing energy into subspace, where it is explosively amplified and accumulated through quantum tunneling and phase resonance. As a result, when the energy is radiated back into normal space, the ultra-high-density energy is rapidly pulled back, causing localized energy runaway, vacuum fluctuations, and thermal decay along the trajectory. By routing the energy through subspace, the Heavy Nucleon Beta Cannon solves the range problem of the Alpha Cannon, and the Energy phase transition at the moment of return to normal space makes it a weapon that can inflict significant damage on its target.

Furthermore, the infinite Beta Cannon, mounted on the Grodez-class ship, is an extension of the Beta Cannon that utilizes subspace. This cannon was developed under the influence of the Wave-Motion Gun, which creates a chain reaction of extra dimensions along its trajectory.

Dezarium is the first civilization on Earth that does not use Wave Energy, and their uniqueness is evident in their technological system and operational philosophy.
