The Eternal Edition CD Series

Despite the countless hours of recordings that was commercially released during the production years, a large body of background music was left out. In September 2000, this oversight was finally corrected by Columbia Records with the debut of the Space Battleship Yamato “Eternal Edition” CDs. Read an overview here.

The Argo is Captured!
The Star Force is lured toward Admiral Smeardom’s space fortress and captured. When Smeardom reports this to Desslok, Desslok flies into a rage. He contacts the Argo and invites them to visit the Galman homeworld as his personal guests.

In November 2004, Nippon Columbia music publishing rolled out a 30th anniversary “Eternal Edition Premium” CD collection. Unlike the earlier series, this new one pulled all the symphonic albums together into one package, plus a few extras. Read an overview here.

When Yamato 2 appeared, it divided the fans into two camps; those who considered it an alternate version of the greatest movie ever made, and those who considered it an inferior version of the greatest movie ever made. This issue was published in April, 1979 to coincide with the conclusion of Yamato 2. The ratings were so impressive that Yoshinobu Nishizaki had already given the green light to The New Voyage. Without missing a beat, this issue jumped right from one to the other.

The Angry Sun!
Galman Major Kranshaw leads a unit to the solar system to deal with the runaway nuclear fusion on the sun. Despite elaborate procedures, the effort fails and the sun rages on. Argo sets sail for a planet called Phantom, which Desslok describes as similar to Earth.

The Argo arrives at Phantom and the Star Force is amazed to see that it looks exactly like Earth. Desslok warns Bemlarze to keep his hands off the Argo. On Phantom, everyone begins to witness phantoms of their loved ones and places from Earth.
