Also produced by Yoshinobu Nishizaki, Triton had made its TV debut two years before Yamato. These programs and another named Blue Noah formed a triumvirate of action/adventure shows that made Office Academy an industry leade. Immediately after 1979’s The New Voyage, two new projects demanded Yoshinobu Nishizaki’s attention: the development of Be Forever Yamato and the conversion of the first two series into Star Blazers. Despite the insane workload, he added a third project to the mix: the TV series Space Carrier Blue Noah.

A lot of planning had to be wrestled to the ground, but our mutual passion for Adventure Roman got us everywhere we wanted to go. And we’re proud to submit the photographic proof.

Toei Animation Studio

Founded in 1956, Toei Studio was the birthplace of the world’s first full-color anime feature films. One reason we made the pilgrimage to this mecca is because three of the Space Battleship Yamato movies were made here. Also, it’s the only animation studio in Tokyo actually open to the general public.

The Battleship Yamato Museum

Just south of Hiroshima lies the port city of Kure, the building site of history’s largest battleship, the Yamato. Today the Battleship Yamato Museum occupies the exact spot where the original was constructed and pays homage to both this engineering marvel and the city that was its cradle.

Leiji Matsumoto Symbol Road

The merchandising campaign for the movie was absolutely enormous and pasted Yamato onto everyday objects that had likely never before been linked to anime.
