The Dengil possess a scientific power far superior to earth. The deaths of Yamato‘s crew on the return journey from the Galactic Center exploration mission, which leads to Kodai’s resignation as captain, is also by the Dengil fleet’s hyper thermonuclear missiles. Their tremendous explosive force penetrates Yamato’s sturdy armor, and the resulting influx of cosmic radiation kills many of the crew and leaves Kodai himself in a near death state!
But the horror of Dengil doesn’t end there. If Aquarius continues at its current speed, it will be 6,000 years before it approaches earth. But Dengil warps it, drastically shortening the time until that day. Dengil’s ambition is to cause a flood on earth, wipe out humanity, and then relocate after the waters receded!
The Earth Defense Force is easily defeated and loses many battleships at the hands of the Dengil fleet, which attacks the solar system to prevent humanity from escaping into space. The mission assigned to Yamato is of great importance. The immediate goal is to destroy the enemy fleet, and then to stop Aquarius’s warp.
Having recovered from his illness, Kodai once again boards Yamato as the combat team leader, under the command of Captain Okita, whom he looks up to like a father. Yamato accomplishes its first mission, destroying the enemy fleet, and heads out out of the solar system to achieve its second mission: to stop the warp of Aquarius! At this point, only a few days remain until Aquarius approaches Earth!
Aquarius is the planet that brings terror to Earth!
Aquarius brought sater to Earth and gave rise to life over one billion years ago. It turns out that Aquarius has actually influenced earth several more times since then! For example, it was Aquarius that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs tens of millions of years ago, a cause that remains unknown to this day. And it was also the planet that caused Noah’s great flood, a story famous in the Old Testament thousands of years ago. How will Yamato confront the terrifying planet Aquarius?

Yamato explodes in spectacular fashion! That’s the only fact that’s been revealed so far. Everything else is top-secret for now. So let’s take a look and try to predict the intriguing ending.
Juzo Okita, who fell seriously ill on his way back from the planet Iscandar, did not actually reach brain death. He secretly received treatment and regained his health. Up until this new crisis, it had been announced to the outside world that he was dead. Now, Okita stands once again as the captain of Yamato. Could it be that Okita, still aboard Yamato, will ram Aquarius to stop its warp and save Earth? Will Koda and Yuki remain on another ship, watching from afar as Yamato and Okita meet their tragic end?
In this way, Okita and the older generation leave a legacy of the heart to the newer generation, including Kodai, Yuki, and Shima. They will pass it on to the next generation. (Perhaps Kodai and Yuki’s children?) History is a cycle of things passing away and other things remaining. Yamato might teach us that in the end.
