Predictions and Hopes for Chapter 7
I watched the trailer for Chapter 7.
First and foremost, Akira Fuse’s singing is fantastic! I thought he was a great singer back when I was a child, but don’t you find that his voice resonates even more deeply now that we’re older? Memories from the time I saw the Be Forever movie in third grade all the way up to the present flashed through my mind like a montage.
So, let me share my thoughts on the trailer and what I hope to see.
In the opening scene, Goruba is exploding. It looks like it’s engaged in battle with Ginga. Does this mean Ginga is rushing to the Dezarium home world to provide reinforcements?
Next, we see Alphon fighting against Dezarium soldiers. It seems Alphon is indeed siding with the people of Earth and intends to fight against Mother Dezarium. If Skaldart represents those who blindly obey Mother Dezarium, then Alphon represents those who break free from her control and choose to live as human beings.
Entrusting decisions to an AI might seem rational at first glance, but it has a major flaw: if the AI makes a mistake, correcting it is incredibly difficult. With humans, if a government makes a mistake, you can simply vote them out in the next election. Humans make plenty of mistakes, of course, but I believe the message of 3199 is about the danger of a society where we entrust all judgment to AI and stop thinking for ourselves.
After Mother Dezarium is defeated, I hope Alphon becomes the new leader of Dezarium and builds friendly relations not only with Earth but also with the Galman-Garmillas Empire and the Bolar Federation. However, judging by the lines in the trailer, it feels like Alphon might end up dying in battle.
Next, the scene shifts to Arizona launching and engaging in combat with the Grand Reverse. In Yamato III, Arizona had already been sunk. It didn’t even get a single combat scene. Just as minor characters from the Bolar Federation like Bemlarze and Boroze were given new life in 3199, it feels like Arizona has been revitalized as well.
3199 is fantastic in the way it carefully depicts every single character and mecha. I consider 3199 the best anime of the 21st century, even better than the combination of the original Be Forever and Yamato III.
Following that is a scene showing Yamato fighting Grodez. In Be Forever, Grodez was defeated easily without any real screen time, but it looks like it will play a bigger role this time around. Alphon, having learned that the Dezarium people are being manipulated at the whim of Mother Dezarium, resolves to fight and break free from her control. However, I have a feeling Ranbel will choose to obey Mother Dezarium and fight against Yamato.
To draw a parallel with Blue Noah: Zaitel would be Mother Dezarium, Hegeler would be Alphon, and Jurgens would be Ranbel. With that in mind, I can’t help but wonder if the story will end up like Blue Noah, revealing that the Dezarium people are actually all but extinct. After all, the Digablas was unmanned, too.
Then, a battle surrounding the Grand Reverse is shown. There are scenes of troops attempting to board the Grand Reverse using mobile armor suits, and what appears to be Isidore tending to a dying Alphon. As I mentioned earlier, I want Alphon to survive and become the new leader of the Dezarium, but he’ll probably end up dying.
I imagine a scenario where Nanbu plays a leading role in destroying the Grand Reverse, and Seiya Kitano sacrifices himself to save someone, perhaps Nanbu? Analyzer has been destroyed, and Sada is looking down at it coldly. Sada is likely an avatar of Mother Dezarium, just as the official materials state.
As for Sasha, I suspect she is a cyborg whose mind was overwritten with false memories based on the memories she held at the age of two. I don’t know if the two-year-old Sasha is being held captive on the Dezarium home world, or if she died after having her memories extracted. In any case, I have a feeling the cyborg Sasha is going to die.
Personally, though, I want Sasha to survive. If she does survive, it will likely be the Sasha who is still two years old. Chapter 7 doesn’t come out until October 30th, so the wait feels incredibly long…

Will the new Dessler ship and the Galman-Garmillas Empire fleet appear in Chapter 7?
What I’m most curious about is whether Galman-Garmillas vessels, specifically the new Dessler ship and Dessler Cannon-equipped ships, will appear in Chapter 7.
I watched The New Voyage when I was in second grade, and I’ve never forgotten the humiliation of seeing the Dessler Cannon fail against Goruba, only for Meldarz to mock the blast as a “pebble-like energy shot.”
Later in Yamato III, when the new Dessler ship sank Zespaze, a vessel resistant to the standard Dessler Cannon, I found myself thinking hundreds, even thousands of times throughout my life: “If only we’d had the Hyper-Dessler Cannon back then, we could have sunk that hated Goruba.”
Ideally, in retaliation for the Dezarium forces destroying the Garmillas homeworld and slaughtering 70% of its population, I would advocate for the total destruction of the Dezarium homeworld and the complete extermination of their people. However, seeing figures like Alphon and Isidore, who side with Earth, made me reconsider. Total annihilation, including innocent Dezarians, felt too cruel.
Instead, I really want to see a scene where Yamato, cornered and in a desperate situation while besieged by the Goruba fleet, is rescued by a Garmillas-Garmillas fleet (including the new-model Dessler ship), which then sinks the Goruba fleet using the Hyper-Dessler Cannon.
After all, the battleship slumbering on Planet Starsha is almost certainly the new-model Dessler ship. Since they’ve been foreshadowing it, I really want them to actually have it appear. That said, I absolutely do not want a new-model Dessler ship with an original design like Deusula. I can understand the staff wanting to leave a unique mark, but Deusula clearly deviated from standard Garmillas ship aesthetics and just felt completely out of place to me.
Garmillas-Garmillas vessels, like the new-model Dessler ship and the Dessler Cannon ship, are my absolute favorites among all Yamato mecha, so I want a design that stays true to the original style, like Deusula III.
Dessler doesn’t get much screen time in 3199, so I really hope they give him a big moment in Chapter 7!! I hope my long-held wish, one I’ve harbored for 47 years, finally comes true!!

Mobile Fortress Zespaze vs. Automated Planet Goruba
I’ve run out of material for Chapter 6 reviews, so today I’m doing a special feature instead. I’ve loved the Bolar Federation ever since the Yamato III days, and watching 3199 has only further fueled that passion, so for the sake of the Bolar Federation’s honor, I’m going to give this project my all!
Since the full capabilities of the 3199 version of Zespaze haven’t been revealed yet, I’m basing my analysis on the specifications seen in Yamato III. Given that, Zespaze is resistant to the Dessler Cannon, meaning it must possess defensive capabilities at least equal to those of the Goruba.
In fact, while the Goruba only withstood a single Dessler Cannon shot (and from smaller versions mounted on the Dessler Combat Carrier or Deusula III), Zespaze withstood fire from dozens of Dessler Cannon-equipped ships. There’s no guarantee the Goruba could survive a barrage from dozens of such ships, so it’s entirely possible Zespaze actually boasts superior defense.
On top of that, Zespaze is armed with the powerful Black Hole Cannon. The Goruba has no means to sink Zespaze, given the latter’s resistance to the Dessler Cannon. However, if Zespaze fires its Black Hole Cannon, the Goruba wouldn’t be able to neutralize the energy, as it does with the Dessler Cannon using its phase-shift armor, and would instead be dragged into the black hole’s overwhelming gravity, crushed flat by the process of spaghettification.
Even if the Goruba fired its “Super-Large Gravity Field Convergence Beta Cannon,” a rapid-fire barrage from the Black Hole Cannon would simply suck that energy right into the singularity. the Black Hole Cannon can serve as a defensive weapon, too.
Dezarium might be getting cocky after defeating Boroze’s fleet, but with Zespaze on our side, there is no way the glorious Bolar Federation would ever fall to the likes of them.
I absolutely loathe the Dezarians but love the Galman-Garmillas Empire and the Bolar Federation, so I really want to see a scene in Chapter 7 where their combined fleet annihilates the Dezarium fleet. It would be amazing if Zespaze wiped out the Goruba fleet with the Black Hole Cannon, and the new-model Dessler ship completely destroyed the Dezarium home planet, Mother Dezarium included, using the Hyper-Dessler Cannon.
And for the final scene, I’d love to see Dessler and Bemlarze step outside their ships to talk and deepen their friendship.
I have high hopes for this, so good luck to all the staff members!

What Becomes of the Dezarians After the War?
Today, let’s speculate on what will happen to the Dezarians after their battle with Yamato.
Let’s start with Mother Dezarium. She decided to utilize “phase energy”, the very same energy used by the aliens that caused their civilization’s collapse. However, the side effects were catastrophic: the Dezarium home planet became shrouded in the Dark Galaxy, trapping them inside and causing the planet to grow bitterly cold. Unable to withstand the cooling climate, the Dezarians survived the crisis by transforming themselves into cyborgs.
At one point, they succeeded in venturing outside the Dark Universe. Upon learning of Iscandar, Mother Dezarium seized the planet, intending to use the Cosmo Reverse to restore both the Dezarium homeworld and the people’s bodies to their original states. however, the plan failed when Iscandar self-destructed.
Yet, there are likely limits to how long the Dezarians could survive in their cyborg bodies. This is presumably why they decided to ensure their survival by wiping the memories of Earthlings and overwriting their brains with Dezarium memories. That would explain why they avoided exterminating Earth’s population or damaging their bodies, wouldn’t it? Perhaps their actions up to that point were merely a means to cover up their own failure?
Furthermore, wouldn’t a “Pure Wave-Motion Core” have been necessary to write memories into living, organic bodies? That would explain why they sought to force Yamato to surrender and capture it intact, rather than sinking it.
That is my theory regarding Mother Dezarium’s plan. However, I suspect that during the process of utilizing phase energy, Mother Dezarium’s own thought circuits were eroded by the cold, leading to a distorted way of thinking. After all, in a democracy, even if a flawed administration is chosen, it can be replaced in the next election. With a dictatorial system like Mother Dezarium, however, change is difficult.
Moreover, Mother Dezarium has the ability to brainwash humans wearing Comm-Medals. I believe 3199 carries a message about the dangers of humans ceasing to think for themselves and becoming subservient to AI. Therefore, I think Mother Dezarium must be completely destroyed, allowing the Dezarians to think for themselves and choose their own leaders. I predict that Alphon, once freed from Mother Dezarium’s brainwashing, will cooperate in destroying her.
Skaldart
While most Dezarians remained brainwashed and unaware of Mother Dezarium’s true intentions, Skaldart likely knew the whole truth. He acted in accordance with Mother Dezarium’s will.
Skaldart stands as the representative who acts entirely at Mother Dezarium’s behest. He will likely clash with Alphon, who represents the Dezarium people’s desire to think for themselves and forge their own future. In the ensuing battle, Alphon will probably succeed in defeating Skaldart but sustain a fatal wound himself. I have a feeling that, in his final moments, Alphon will reveal Mother Dezarium’s weakness to Yuki before breathing his last.
Ideally, Alphon would become the new leader of Dezarium, but that probably won’t happen…
Isidore
Once freed from Mother Dezarium’s brainwashing, Isidore will likely escape her control alongside Alphon, aiming to carve out a future for their people. However, I predict that Alphon, the symbol of that movement, will die, and Isidore will inherit his will to become the new leader of the Dezarium.
Ranbel
Ranbel, too, will be liberated from Mother Dezarium’s brainwashing. unlike Isidore, however, I suspect he will choose to follow Mother Dezarium and fight against Yamato of his own volition.
With the majority of the Dezarium people dead and almost no soldiers left to fight, his battle aboard Grodez will likely mirror the role played by Jurgens of Blue Noah. When the Garmillas home planet was destroyed by the Dezarians in 2205, I admit I wanted the Dezarians wiped out completely. However, considering that Earthlings managed to coexist with them after suffering the massacre of 70% of their population, the Garmillans needed to overcome their hatred and coexist as well.
Of course, I realize that’s easier said than done.
Still, the two-month wait until the release of Chapter 7 feels like an eternity. I also find myself wondering if the story can really wrap up in just four more episodes.

When did the Dezarians learn about Earth?
Unlike Chapter 5, which was packed with material thanks to the involvement of Boroze and the Bolar Federation, Chapter 6 offered less to talk about, so I’m running out of blog topics. Since I’m more of a fan of Dessler and Garmillas than of Yamato itself, I’ve been thinking about discussing the appeal of Dessler and Garmillas while waiting for Chapter 7.
However, a comment last week from Q-san, a regular reader of this blog, reminded me that Deda and Meldarz were listening to classical music and that an Andromeda-class ship (one not originally built by the Dezarians) had been captured inside the Goruba.
Knowing that Deda and his crew listened to classical music but were ignorant of Garmillas, I had previously theorized that the Mars government, which had been at war with Earth, successfully analyzed Bolar Federation vessels and even developed warp engines. I imagined that as the war situation with Earth worsened and they lacked the resources for mass-production of warp-capable ships, the Mars government fled to a distant location with only a handful of vessels. That’s why I assumed that when Skaldart arrived on Earth and saw the UN emblem, it prompted him to say, “We have returned.”
But if that were the case, it wouldn’t make sense for them to know about Iscandar but not Garmillas in 2205, right? On top of that, there was the wreckage of an Andromeda-class ship inside the Goruba, bearing a future serial number that shouldn’t have existed yet, and Mother Dezarium referred to Yamato as the “Ship of the Devil.” Their knowledge seems rather fragmented.
When you look at it that way, you really have to wonder at what point they actually learned about Yamato and Earth.
I also considered the possibility that the Dezarians aren’t descendants of the Martian government, but rather a version of humanity from a parallel world where they kept using the dimensional fault. If the Dark Galaxy was created and the universe polluted as a result of constantly using that dimensional fault, it would make sense for them to hold a grudge against Iscandar, viewing it as an “accursed planet.”
That would also validate the choice humanity made in 2202 to abandon the dimensional fault and rescue Kodai and Yuki. After all, if the Dezarians really were descendants of Earthlings, killing Earthlings would likely cause them to cease to exist, so they wouldn’t be able to just go around killing indiscriminately. That’s why I don’t believe the claim that the Dezarians are descendants of Earthlings.
Thinking about it all, I’m starting to lose track of what the actual answer might be. As Q-san mentioned, I wonder if they’ll really manage to tie up all the loose ends and bring everything to a proper conclusion in Chapter 7? It’s really got me curious…
