One method for this was the <em>Anime Land<\/em> LP series, of which this was Volume 13. As you can see from the title, the series was chronological, so this volume gave the opening and closing titles of <em>Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> yet another home on vinyl.<\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/p>\n<h3>September releases<\/h3>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/apr25\/044b28.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>All of Leiji Matsumoto, World of SF Roman LP<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Matsumoto&#8217;s growing list of anime productions had built up a huge library of songs with <em>Adieu Galaxy Express<\/em> being only the latest. Nippon Columbia commemorated them with this 2-record collection of 24 songs that included four from <em>Yamato<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/apr25\/044b29.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>More broadly-based song collections were still a hot item, and Nippon Columbia added two more to the stack in September. <em>Terebi Manga Best 32<\/em> (left) was another 2-record set with six <em>Yamato<\/em> songs stretching from <em>The New Voyage<\/em> to <em>Yamato III<\/em>. <em>Terebi Manga Best Collection Deluxe<\/em> (right) contained 16 tracks, including the <em>Yamato<\/em> theme and <em>The Scarlet Scarf.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b01.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>October 1: <em>Terebi Manga Best Collection<\/em> EPs<\/h3>\n<p>It would have been pretty wild if Nippon Columbia released over 20 singles all on the same day, but all that is known for certain is that Volume 7 and Volume 21 both came out together, pairing <em>Yamato<\/em> with some well-known contemporaries.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b02.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Volume 7 put the <em>Yamato<\/em> theme and <em>The Scarlet Scarf<\/em> on one side, and the opening and closing themes for <em>Triton of the Sea<\/em> on the other.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b03.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was the second time for such a pairing; this was essentially a reissue of a <em>Yamato\/Triton<\/em> combo previously released by Columbia in January 1977.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b04.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Volume 21 put the two end songs from <em>Yamato III<\/em> on one side and two from <em>Lupin III<\/em> (opening and love theme) on the other.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b05.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Lupin<\/em> songs were derived from the second TV series, which had a non-stop 3-year tenure from October 1977 to October 1980, not to mention two feature films in that same time frame. <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b10.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>October 25: <em>Anime Best Hit<\/em> albums<\/h3>\n<p>Two of the top voices in anime theme songs in 1981 were Mitsuko Horie and Isao Sasaki. Both were primed to land high-profile singing careers in the 70s and rode the wave ever higher from there (and both are still doing it as of this writing). Nippon Columbia released &#8220;Best Hit&#8221; albums for them on the same day, and both included <em>Yamato<\/em> songs.<\/p>\n<p>Mitsuko Horie&#8217;s album included her ending song from <em>Yamato III<\/em>, <em>Face in the Stars<\/em> (an image song from <em>Be Forever<\/em>), and her cover of <em>Galaxy Legend<\/em>. Isao Sasaki&#8217;s album included his ending song from <em>Yamato III<\/em>, his covers of <em>From Yamato With Love<\/em> and <em>Until the Day of Love<\/em>, and <em>Pendant of Stars<\/em> from <em>Be Forever<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b14.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>November 1: <em>Terebi Manga Best Collection<\/em> EP #22<\/h3>\n<p>After previously combining <em>Yamato<\/em> songs with other shows, Columbia finally decided to combine <em>Yamato<\/em> with <em>Yamato<\/em> for this round.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b15.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once side contained the two songs from <em>The New Voyage<\/em>: Sasaki&#8217;s <em>Yamato!! The New Voyage<\/em> and the ending song <em>Sasha My Love.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b16.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the other side could be found Isao Sasaki&#8217;s image songs from <em>Farewell to Yamato<\/em>: <em>The Rival<\/em> and <em>Teresa Forever<\/em> (which became the end theme for <em>Yamato 2<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may25\/049b18.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>November: <em>Introduction to Anime Singers, How to Sing Hit Theme Songs<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>If you ever dreamed of performing anime theme songs, Nippon Columbia made this album for you. The <em>Yamato<\/em> theme was covered by the Larry Nelson Orchestra. Read more about the album <a href='https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/release\/28150468-Various-SF-Spectacle-Themes'>here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div class='clear'>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2>1982<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/jun25\/055b06.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>February 1: <em>Choral Suite New Voyage\/Brave Raideen<\/em> LP<\/h3>\n<p>This was the second album of its kind, a choral and piano performance with <em>Yamato<\/em> music from <em>The New Voyage<\/em> arranged by Jo Hisaishi, who would go on to international fame with Studio Ghibli. <em>Brave Raideen<\/em> was a \u201cSuper Robot\u201d anime series from 1974. Its music was arranged by composer Shoetsu Kawasaki to fill side B. Everything was performed by the Kanma Corps Chorus with accompaniment from pianist Akiko Shima. <\/p>\n<p>Read the liner notes <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/244'>here<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/oct25\/074b15.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>November 21: <em>Anime Piano, Yamato\/Gundam<\/em> album &#038; sheet music<\/h3>\n<p>Released on the same day as the <em>Digital Trip<\/em> album, this one is a real gem, an entire album of skillful piano solos with one side each devoted to <em>Yamato<\/em> and <em>Mobile Suit Gundam<\/em>. The <em>Yamato<\/em> tracks were performed by soloist Aoki Nozomi and made such a strong impression on their own that they could be enjoyed by listeners who hadn\u2019t yet seen the anime.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/oct25\/074b14.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fans could also buy a book of sheet music published by Tokyo Ongaku Shoin [Tokyo Music Study] to create their own solo performances at home.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/oct25\/074b57.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>December: <em>Animation Theme Song Best Collection<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>It was no secret that Nippon Columbia pretty much had a lock on all the most popular anime music, and they paraded their catalog in front of everyone with this LP of 14 songs from all your favorite movies and shows.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/oct25\/074b58.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Side A included <em>Yamato<\/em> (3 songs), <em>Galaxy Express, Lupin III, Tomorrow&#8217;s Joe, Toward the Terra<\/em>, and <em>Cyborg 009<\/em>. Side B contained <em>Tomorrow&#8217;s Joe 2, Mobile Suit Gundam<\/em> (2 songs), <em>Adieu Galaxy Express, Queen Millennia<\/em>, and <em>Arcadia of My Youth<\/em>.
