The Dynit company is known for a very high-quality release of Yamato 2199<\/em> in Italy, and in 2025 they went the extra mile for one of the most noteworthy releases of Yamato<\/em> series 1 outside Japan.<\/p>\n It offers the ultimate hybrid experience; a complete uncut version of Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> with Italian subtitles AND an Italian language option using the localized Star Blazers<\/em> dub. When a deleted scene comes up, audio reverts to Japanese with subs. In some cases where dialogue conflicts, the Italian dub is accompanied by “corrected” Italian subtitles; you hear and read two different things at the same time. That’s a level of care that deserves applause. Nippon Broadcasting Project has the answer: a made-to-order limited edition solid gold Yamato<\/em> miniature with its own display case. Bandai Emotion released a remastered version of Series 1 in HD with one heckuva bonus feature: a completely new 1\/700 Yamato<\/em> model kit. Supervised by Hideaki Anno and sculpted by Shoichi Manabe, it was an idealized, refined version of the ship for the 21st century. (Read all about it here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n In January 2026, as an extension of the 50th anniversary commemoration, this beautiful kit would finally be re-released as an independent product from Bandai Namco Filmworks. (More pics farther down the page.)<\/p>\n O.G. superfan Ryusuke Hikawa reappeared with the publication of his latest book from Kadokawa. As the title indicates, this one is an analysis of pop culture history. The official description reads:<\/p>\n The uniqueness of Japanese anime cannot be understood without tokusatsu! Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Space Battleship Yamato, Mobile Suit Gundam<\/em> — a groundbreaking media culture theory that considers the 1960s and 70s “TV manga” when animation and tokusatsu were in lockstep.<\/span><\/p>\n The book is mainly text, but if that’s not an obstacle you can order it from Amazon.co.jp here<\/a>.<\/p>\n In purely visual terms, something that jumps right out at you is the cover art by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. It was his first Yamato<\/em> image since 1979, a milestone that Kadokawa was quick to seize on by offering tote bags and framed prints.<\/p>\n This is a product unique to Japan, baked bread in a can, easy to rebrand for any tie-in you like. A store called Anime World Star produced a Yamato<\/em> version back in 2009, and revived it for today’s canned bread needs.<\/p>\n See all the Yamato<\/em> items for sale at Anime World Star here<\/a><\/p>\n Many new and custom products went on sale with the first exhibition, amounting to a whole new generation of merch. Fortunately, local fans were there to document it for the rest of us. Click here<\/a> for photos.<\/p>\n Previously teased in February, Artisan Toy company revealed their new soft vinyl figures for preorder on this day with release in August. On May 19, the online version of the article went live at Hobby Japan Web<\/em>.<\/p>\n Read it here<\/a><\/p>\n On this day, Studio Khara published the following press release for a very special book project:<\/p>\n Produced by Hideaki Anno, a long-awaited manga adaptation of Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> is finally being published as a single volume after 50 years!<\/span><\/p>\n This work is a manga adaptation created by Yuki Hijiri Yuki, known for SF works such as Locke the Superman<\/em>. It was published simultaneously with the broadcast in Terebiland<\/em> magazine and became a memorable work for many fans. However, due to circumstances such as the loss of the original manuscripts, it remained unpublished despite long-standing requests for a single-volume edition.<\/span><\/p>\n Now, with the cooperation of various parties, missing original art was collected, and the parts that could not be found were restored by manga artist Masato Hayase using the published versions. The complete six-episode series, including the five main episodes and the one-episode side story published in a special issue, will be released for the first time in a single volume.<\/span><\/p>\n At the end of the book, there is a special interview between Hideaki Anno and Yutaka Izubuchi, who are both passionate fans of Yamato<\/em> and this adaptation. Additionally, there is an introduction to an unpublished Yamato<\/em> manga project by Hijiri, which is being revealed for the first time. (In fact, it was almost certainly sold in the gift shop.) Almost 70 pages of Matsumoto-related articles made this issue an instant sell-out. But if you feel like searching for a copy, here<\/a> is the Amazon.co.jp link to get you started.<\/p>\n Back in March, the world was treated to the first Yamato<\/em> painting from the great Yoshikazu Yasuhiko since his famous 1978 poster for Farewell<\/em> when it adorned the cover of Ryusuke Hikawa’s book mentioned above. Many of the products reappeared from the Tokyo exhibition, but other venders hopped on with their own contributions. See a photo gallery here<\/a>.<\/p>\n It’s been known to us here at Cosmo DNA for many years, and to hardcore Japanese fans since 1974, but to the rest of the world it’s been out of reach. Until now. On this day, 50 years after it vanished into the shadowy corners of Yamato<\/em> world, Yuki Hijiri’s unique manga adaptation, originally serialized in Terebiland<\/em> magazine, made its long-overdue appearance in print.<\/p>\n Thanks to a years-long effort to recover as much original art as possible, and touch up the rest from hi-rez scans of vintage magazine pages, all six chapters have been restored to their original glory and collected into an 84-page book from Studio Khara. Bonus features include a commentary by touchup artist Masato Hayase and a conversation about the manga between Hideaki Anno and Yutaka Izubuchi.<\/p>\n Everyone involved vastly underestimated demand for this book, so the entire first print run sold out over a week before the publication date. The news was reported on the Figgy<\/a> website…<\/p>\n G-ant is offering \u201cSpace Battleship Yamato<\/em> Mitacle Block,\u201d a 3D block figure set featuring five characters from the anime Space Battleship Yamato<\/em>, available for pre-order on the official Mitacle Block website<\/a> from August 10 to September 1.<\/span><\/p>\n In this collaboration, five characters \u2014 including the protagonist Susumu Kodai, Yuki Mori, Juzo Okita, Dessler, and Analyzer \u2014 have been meticulously recreated in 3D using voxel (spatial pixel) technology.<\/span><\/p>\n Standing approximately 5\u20136 cm tall, these palm-sized figures are not only decorative but also allow you to experience the joy of assembling the parts yourself to complete the character. The costumes and distinctive silhouettes, based on 2D illustrations, are faithfully reproduced with meticulous block construction. Each character’s unique personality is packed into their small bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, a 3D online design diagram (with QR code) is included, allowing even beginners to assemble the figure while referencing the instructions on their smartphone or PC. The characters that once captivated us are now reborn as \u201cheroes in the palm of your hand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Announced earlier in the year, a new set of eight keychains with classic imagery went on the market today from NIC (New Item Creative).<\/p>\n They are sold as “capsule toys” in vending machines across Japan, and can also be purchased as a set from Rakuten here<\/a> (to Japanese addresses only).<\/p>\n This one came from Facebook user Yassin El Azzabi<\/a>, who discovered a previously unknown Yamato<\/em> T-shirt sold on the Alariv website. It’s almost certainly unlicensed, so proceed on your own recognizance if it appeals to you.<\/p>\n The text (likely scraped from somewhere) reads: Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> is one of the most influential anime series in Japan.
