When a deleted scene comes up, audio reverts to Japanese with subs. In some cases where dialogue conflicts, the Italian dub is accompanied by &#8220;corrected&#8221; Italian subtitles; you hear and read two different things at the same time. That&#8217;s a level of care that deserves applause. Bandai Emotion released a remastered version of Series 1 in HD with one heckuva bonus feature: a completely new 1\/700 <em>Yamato<\/em> model kit. Supervised by Hideaki Anno and sculpted by Shoichi Manabe, it was an idealized, refined version of the ship for the 21st century. (Read all about it <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/225'>here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>In January 2026, as an extension of the 50th anniversary commemoration, this beautiful kit would finally be re-released as an independent product from Bandai Namco Filmworks. As the title indicates, this one is an analysis of pop culture history. The official description reads:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">The uniqueness of Japanese anime cannot be understood without tokusatsu! <em>Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Space Battleship Yamato, Mobile Suit Gundam<\/em> &#8212; a groundbreaking media culture theory that considers the 1960s and 70s &#8220;TV manga&#8221; when animation and tokusatsu were in lockstep.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The book is mainly text, but if that&#8217;s not an obstacle you can order it from Amazon.co.jp <a href='https:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/dp\/404116091X'>here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/apr25\/043b21.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In purely visual terms, something that jumps right out at you is the cover art by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. It was published simultaneously with the broadcast in <em>Terebiland<\/em> magazine and became a memorable work for many fans. However, due to circumstances such as the loss of the original manuscripts, it remained unpublished despite long-standing requests for a single-volume edition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">Now, with the cooperation of various parties, missing original art was collected, and the parts that could not be found were restored by manga artist Masato Hayase using the published versions. The complete six-episode series, including the five main episodes and the one-episode side story published in a special issue, will be released for the first time in a single volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">At the end of the book, there is a special interview between Hideaki Anno and Yutaka Izubuchi, who are both passionate fans of <em>Yamato<\/em> and this adaptation. Additionally, there is an introduction to an unpublished <em>Yamato<\/em> manga project by Hijiri, which is being revealed for the first time. (In fact, it was almost certainly sold in the gift shop.) Almost 70 pages of Matsumoto-related articles made this issue an instant sell-out. Many of the products reappeared from the Tokyo exhibition, but other venders hopped on with their own contributions. See a photo gallery <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/Osaka50Xstore'>here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug25\/063b31.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>July 28: Yuki Hijiri manga collection<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s been known to us here at Cosmo DNA for many years, and to hardcore Japanese fans since 1974, but to the rest of the world it&#8217;s been out of reach. Until now. On this day, 50 years after it vanished into the shadowy corners of <em>Yamato<\/em> world, Yuki Hijiri&#8217;s unique manga adaptation, originally serialized in <em>Terebiland<\/em> magazine, made its long-overdue appearance in print.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a years-long effort to recover as much original art as possible, and touch up the rest from hi-rez scans of vintage magazine pages, all six chapters have been restored to their original glory and collected into an 84-page book from Studio Khara. Bonus features include a commentary by touchup artist Masato Hayase and a conversation about the manga between Hideaki Anno and Yutaka Izubuchi.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug25\/063bhijiri.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Everyone involved vastly underestimated demand for this book, so the entire first print run sold out over a week before the publication date. The news was reported on the <a href='https:\/\/www.figgy.jp\/news\/20250813001\/'>Figgy<\/a> website&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"textBlue\">Those iconic characters are now available in palm-sized figures! <em>Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> meets voxels for a new figure experience!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">G-ant is offering \u201c<em>Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> Mitacle Block,\u201d a 3D block figure set featuring five characters from the anime <em>Space Battleship Yamato<\/em>, available for pre-order on the official <a href='https:\/\/store.mitacleblock.com\/collections\/anime_utyusenkanyamato'>Mitacle Block website<\/a> from August 10 to September 1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/sep25\/069b15.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">In this collaboration, five characters \u2014 including the protagonist Susumu Kodai, Yuki Mori, Juzo Okita, Dessler, and Analyzer \u2014 have been meticulously recreated in 3D using voxel (spatial pixel) technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"textBlue\">Standing approximately 5\u20136 cm tall, these palm-sized figures are not only decorative but also allow you to experience the joy of assembling the parts yourself to complete the character. The costumes and distinctive silhouettes, based on 2D illustrations, are faithfully reproduced with meticulous block construction. It&#8217;s almost certainly unlicensed, so proceed on your own recognizance if it appeals to you.<\/p>\n<p>The text (likely scraped from somewhere) reads: <em>Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> is one of the most influential anime series in Japan.
