At the time, newspapers were reporting it extensively, calling it the “Yamato Boom” or “Yamato Fever.” It was also with Yamato that fans began lining up overnight to see anime movies.

Yamato will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, and this final chapter commemorates that milestone.

The story begins with a major catastrophe occurring in space. A dimensional fault opens near the center of the galaxy, and another galaxy emerges from it to cause great damage to the core star systems that intersect with it. Yamato, with Susumu Kodai as captain, heads to the center of the galaxy to investigate the situation.

A great collapse has occurred there, and Dessler’s nation, the Gamilas Empire, which boasted great power, has become a ruined planet.

On its way back, Yamato discovers a planet whose city has been engulfed in a great flood and sets out to rescue the people. But only one boy is saved, and Yamato suffers great damage.

Surprise! 70mm Anime

The cause of the flood is the watery planet Aquarius, which passed close to the planet Dengil, and the gravitational forces between the two planets caused a large amount of water to fall.

As Yamato prepares to leave Dengil, a mysterious fleet launches an attack. Yamato is exposed to enemy radiation weapons, and Kodai, who is not wearing a helmet, contracts radiation. This is said to be incurable, and he is near to death.

This is the prologue of the final chapter of Yamato. The intersection of galaxies, and a city swallowed by a great flood. From the very beginning, there are breathtaking scenes, including space battles and the mysteriously beautiful water planet Aquarius.

This final chapter of Yamato also features many new mecha, and the scale is even greater than before. Uruk and its mobile fortress mothership, which dwarfs Yamato, challenges Yamato to battle!

What is particularly noteworthy is that all of this will be presented on a large screen in 70mm. The use of 70mm film for animation is a rare attempt anywhere in the world.

There are many other topics about this chapter of Yamato. First of all, the famous captain Juzo Okita will be making a reappearance. It will be interesting to see how he will interact with Kodai and the others.

In addition to Isao Sasaki, who has sung all the theme songs for the series, Tranzam, Tomoko Kuwae, and Junko Yagami will also be singing new theme songs in their first-ever appearance in an anime.

Premiering March ’83

Return to previous article

[1

post-42130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
