One is the melodious music created by composer Hiroshi Miyagawa. Even if you are not a fan, many people have probably heard the theme song of this work and the song that starts with a vocal scat. Miyagawa was a hitmaker who produced many hit songs in the world of Showa pop music. He teamed up with producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki on the TV anime Wansa-kun (1973), and Space Battleship Yamato was their follow-up work. Nishizaki had a strong preference for music, and the music of Yamato was made with the aim of creating a symphonic sound.

The other kind of sound is the distinctive sound effects. They were created by sound effects specialist Mitsuru Kashiwabara. He started his career with the 30-minute TV anime series Mighty Atom [Astro Boy] (1963), the most famous in Japan, and created many sound effects that everyone knows in Sazae-san and Doraemon. In this work, there are many sounds that have a mysterious charm that makes you want to imitate them when you hear them, such as the startup sound of Yamato, the main gun, and the Wave-Motion Gun. A CD containing these sounds has been released.

Key sound effects could be played at the press of a button.

Continue to next gallery, “To Victory”

Return to index

[1

post-40158","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
