November 26: REBEL 3199<\/em> Chapter 2 on Crunchyroll<\/h3>\n

With Chapter 1, it took us a week to get the episodes after their premiere in Japan. With Chapter 2, the gap was shortened to just five days. Let’s hope that trend continues into the future!<\/p>\n

And HEADS UP!<\/span> In case you were unaware, Age of Yamato<\/em> and Yamato 2205<\/em> were finally added on December 5! With this, the gap between 2202<\/em> and 3199<\/em> has finally been filled.<\/p>\n

November 26: Fukui\/Furukawa interview #1<\/h3>\n

Alphon is probably the most intriguing character in all of REBEL 3199<\/em>, and Animage Plus<\/em> was the first website to publish a dual interview with both his writer and voice actor. As they discussed the role, new insights gave us hints on just how intriguing he’s become.<\/p>\n

November 27: 1\/350 Diecast Gimmick Model Vol. 283<\/h3>\n

The last Hachette volume of the month built upon the previous one with an LED element and additional assembly on the engine cap. After this, there were 17 more volumes to go, which puts the finish line at late March 2025.<\/p>\n

November 28: Display model in Nagoya<\/h3>\n

Fans in Tokyo were sorry to see the 1\/100 Yamato<\/em> display model vanish from the Shinjuku Piccadilly in the midst of week one, but their loss was Nagoya’s gain. On the day before week two began, it reappeared (accompanied by the Sasha standee) at Midland Square Cinema, which would be the site of a live stage greeting two days later.<\/p>\n

November 29: Week 2 handout<\/h3>\n

Chapter 2 started its second week (of four) in theaters today, and the first handout to all moviegoers was replaced with a second. This week it was a reproduction of the original 1980 character design sheet for Alphon.<\/p>\n

November 29: Comment videos<\/h3>\n

Two new short videos appeared at the Yamato<\/em> Production Committee’s Twitter account, taking the proceedings up a notch. This time we heard from Daisuke Ono<\/a> (Kodai) and Megumi Han<\/a> (Sasha). Click on their names to watch.<\/p>\n

November 30: Science Beginner’s<\/em> Video No. 5<\/h3>\n

After Tokugawa irritates Isidore with the etiquette of on-screen transformations, the next Science Beginner’s<\/em> video takes a look at Yamato<\/em>‘s new Wave-Motion Cartridge rounds.<\/p>\n

November 30: Fukui\/Furukawa interview #2<\/h3>\n

The second Fukui\/Furukawa interview to appear was actually the first to be conducted; Animate Times<\/em> recorded it prior to the November 22 premiere but held it back for week 2 because it was absolutely packed with spoilers. It dove even deeper into Alphon’s character and brought new things to light, such as what it’s like to be in the same scene as a fighting mad Yuki Mori.<\/p>\n

November 30: Week 2 stage greeting, Nagoya<\/h3>\n

This one didn’t get any coverage, but it still went as planned with General Director Harutoshi Fukui and Director Naomichi Yamato taking the stage at Midland Square Cinema, joined by MC Taichi, a local comedian who also happens to be involved with anime production. Next stop, Osaka!<\/p>\n

November 30: 1\/1000 Yamato 3199<\/em> model kit<\/h3>\n

Crashing through outer space and into your face! The latest iteration of Bandai’s 1\/1000 Yamato<\/em> model arrived with another box art masterpiece by Kia Asamiya and new parts to match the “third refit\/participation ceremony” version.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

What that actually means is that following the 2205<\/em> mission, Yamato<\/em> was polished up with various upgrades and new insignia and sent off on a “training cruise.” That was the official story, anyway. It actually went into hiding in the Icarus asteroid observatory and, well, you know the rest.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The angle on this new model is that it comes with insignia decals and option parts that let you build either the 2205<\/em> version or the 3199<\/em> version with the relevant regalia. Which means you’ll probably end up buying two if you’re a true psycho fan. And if you’ve read this far, we kinda know the answer to that.<\/p>\n

To give us all some extra insight into the evolution of the 1\/1000 Yamato<\/em>, and the anime design in general, these photos were posted on Twitter by CorgiStar52<\/a>. They compare the bow parts from 2199 on the left through the various refits to culminate with the new version on the right.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Since modern technology allows Bandai to use the actual 3D models created for the screen, this gives us an accurate view of what goes on in the design phase to emerge at the other end as a physical product.<\/p>\n

November 30: Shirts announced<\/h3>\n

Another player jumped into the 50th anniversary game today, an apparel designer named Hard Core Chocolate. At the end of November they announced a lineup of six shirts that kick it old school. Click here<\/a> for a better look at each one (and even place an order through a worldwide shipping service).<\/p>\n

November 30: Shochu delivery<\/h3>\n

That booze you ordered is here! Just one day after the scheduled shipping date, cartons of 50th anniversary Yamato<\/em> shochu wine started showing up at their forever-homes. Twitter user shinozaki2323<\/a> posted the photos above with the following caption:<\/p>\n

The commemorative shochu arrived. For the passionate fans, the cardboard box was protected with more cardboard to prevent damage, the labels were all placed in plastic to prevent rubbing against the carton, and one bottle was placed in a carton with the lid unfolded for easy removal. It was perfect consideration. (Passionate fans can be noisy, after all.) lol<\/span><\/p>\n

SusumuLOVEeno77<\/a> agreed, saying “The quality was better than I expected.”<\/p>\n

November 30: Movie news<\/h3>\n

This jam-packed month ended on a moment truly worth toasting with that shochu wine. Studio Khara announced the next phase of its Yamato<\/em> plan: the 50th Anniversary Selection Screenings. Starting December 27, 9 episodes of the original TV series will be shown in 43 theaters (3 episodes per week) and each week has its own poster. The images are by Toshihiro Kawamoto, and were originally used for video jackets in the 90s.<\/p>\n

The photos above and below were posted on Twitter by imakenken1<\/a> and glatto<\/a>, both taken at the Nagashimaso Model Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That’s the largest model (as far as we know) of Zordar’s Giant Battleship, guessed to be about a meter long. Imakenken spoke for all of us with the caption, “The person who made this is amazing.”<\/p>\n
