Here\u2019s everything that provided a distraction from the summer boiler\u2026<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a01.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>July 1: Art museum exhibit<\/h3>\n<p>When a Battleship <em>Yamato<\/em> exhibit appeared at the <a href='http:\/\/www.city.sasebo.lg.jp\/kyouiku\/simano\/'>Shimanose Art Center<\/a> (part of the Sasebo City Museum in Nagasaki), fans stepped in with some of their own contributions until roughly half of the exhibit covered <em>Space Battleship<\/em> Yamato. <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a02.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This news and the photos were posted on Twitter July 1 by <a href='https:\/\/twitter.com\/misorahikaru'>Hikaru Misora<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a03.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>July 2: Leiji Matsumoto manga reprint announced<\/h3>\n<p>In January 2018, a publisher named Fukkan made their mark on <em>Yamato<\/em> history when they brought out an archival edition of Leiji Matsumoto\u2019s original <em>Yamato<\/em> manga in a comprehensive volume that included an enormous amount of bonus material. (It\u2019s still in print as of this writing and can be ordered <a href='https:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/\u5b87\u5b99\u6226\u8266\u30e4\u30de\u30c8-\u300a\u5192\u967a\u738b-\u30aa\u30ea\u30b8\u30ca\u30eb\u300b-\u5fa9\u523b\u6c7a\u5b9a\u7248-\u677e\u672c\/dp\/4835455533\/ref=pd_sim_14_2?_encoding=UTF8&#038;pd_rd_i=4835455533&#038;pd_rd_r=f6138264-981c-11e8-9e17-418561cca007&#038;pd_rd_w=f2wVO&#038;pd_rd_wg=n6VQH&#038;pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&#038;pf_rd_m=AN1VRQENFRJN5&#038;pf_rd_p=053a78c4-e34f-47d4-9426-4d23f47a211d&#038;pf_rd_r=AAJ3HKE2Z0Z6QPSSKQEQ&#038;pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&#038;pf_rd_t=40701&#038;psc=1&#038;refRID=AAJ3HKE2Z0Z6QPSSKQEQ'>here<\/a>. Yes, you DO want it.) Now Fukkan is doing it again for <em>Yamato 2<\/em>, and the pot has been sweetened.<\/p>\n<p>As shown above, this will be a two-volume set, which raises some questions since Matsumoto never actually finished his manga adaptation of the Comet Empire story. Every page from <em>Adventure King<\/em> magazine will be reprinted at their original size and color, accompanied by a treasure trove of other artwork from this time frame.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a04.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But the real bonus will be found in the appendices: the VERY rare <em>Adventure King<\/em> manga adaptations for <em>The New Voyage<\/em> by Minoru Nonaka and <em>Yamato III<\/em> by Hiroshi Aizawa. Longtime fans of this website know that the Aizawa manga can be seen in full <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/650'>here<\/a>, but Nonaka\u2019s two-chapter version of <em>The New Voyage<\/em> was only recently rediscovered and dusted off for its first-ever reprint. Also included will be extensive text material and a new interview with <em>2199<\/em> Director Yutaka Izubuchi.<\/p>\n<p>Both volumes will run over 300 pages each. Volume 1 is scheduled for September 14 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon <a href='https:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/gp\/product\/4835456084\/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AN1VRQENFRJN5&#038;psc=1'>here<\/a>. See them along with previous merch at the Bandai Fashion website <a href='http:\/\/bandai-fashion.jp\/character\/list\/?character=c000706'>here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a06.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"image-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a07.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>July 4: Diecast Gimmick Model, Vol. 002<\/h3>\n<p>As explained in Report 23, the Hachette company began to test-market a 1\/350 <em>Yamato<\/em> model (released in weekly segments) in order to gauge public response. Committed to the first four segments, they released Volume 001 on June 20 and followed up two weeks later with this volume, which delivered a highly articulated shock cannon.<\/p>\n<p>Hachette released two more sets over the course of this month (keep reading) and then put the project on indefinite hold for retooling. As stated in Report 23, many other Hachette products of this nature are sold through Amazon.co.jp, and since they are categorized as publications rather than toys or models, they are eligible for overseas shipping. He turned up to do it again at a live-music bar in Tokyo called <em>Snufkin<\/em>. This would have been a very memorable event for those who attended \u2013 the room was limited to 30 audience members.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a19.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>July 25: <em>Hobby Japan<\/em> #591<\/h3>\n<p>There was only enough news to fill one page in <em>Hobby Japan<\/em> this month, but what a page it was; new photos of the 1\/1000 <em>Galaxy<\/em> prototype and the first images anywhere of a brand new Yuki Mori figure from Megahouse. Both of these would soon be seen by a lot more eyeballs at Wonder Festival.<\/p>\n<p>See an enlargement of the page at the end of this report.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a21.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>July 25: Megane Flower eyeglasses announced<\/h3>\n<p>Custom eyeglass frames were announced on this day from a company called Megane [Glasses] Flower. This isn\u2019t the first time <em>Yamato<\/em> eyeglasses have been made, since the same company did a <em>Yamato<\/em> frame <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/114a'>two years previously<\/a>. But these are all new designs with both a <em>Yamato<\/em> and an <em>Andromeda<\/em> motif to be enjoyed by those who look closely.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/aug18\/328a22.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Both frames were released on August 3.
