New mecha was introduced in the story that Bandai brought to plastic in an effort to feed the insatiable hunger for <em>Yamato<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><!--noteaser--><\/p>\n<h2>Part 5: the Voyage Continues<\/h2>\n<p>Model kits derived from <em>Farewell<\/em> and <em>Yamato 2<\/em> were still in steady release when <em>The New Voyage<\/em> made its debut in July 1979. Plenty of new mecha was introduced in the story, but Bandai brought only a few of them to plastic while continuing to feed the hunger for spaceships from the previous <em>Yamato<\/em> &#8216;dynasty.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/mar24\/919a36.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Mecha Collection 16: Dessler&#8217;s Battle Carrier<\/h3>\n<p>Based on the design from Series 1, modified to include the Dessler Cannon on the forward gun deck.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/mar24\/919a37.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Mecha Collection 17: Dark Nebula Battleship <em>Pleiades<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>The one and only Dark Nebula vessel to be released as a standard model kit. Those that followed were only made in garage kit form. (See them all <a href='https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault\/494a'>here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/mar24\/919a38.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Mecha Collection 18: Gamilas Three-Deck Carrier<\/h3>\n<p>Also a lift from Series 1, finally given its due thanks to significant participation in <em>The New Voyage<\/em>. It was only released in green at the outset; this oversight would be corrected in 2012 when blue and lavender versions were bundled with <em>Yamato 2199<\/em> models.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 15px; clear: both; display: block;\" align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/159\/Kit29.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>1\/700 Dessler&#8217;s Command Carrier, large scale (Nov. 1979)<\/h3>\n<p>As everyone&#8217;s favorite ship, <em>Yamato<\/em> was released in eight different scales throughout the production years. Dessler&#8217;s red command carrier from <em>The New Voyage<\/em> was second in line for this honor, getting three releases of its own.
