In 1978 and \u201979, few anime titles were hotter than Yamato 2<\/em>, and the entertainment magazine Roadshow<\/em> kept up with the series for six consecutive issues. Their unique coverage examined the developing story with the same editorial style as anything in the live-action world.<\/p>\n

Roadshow<\/em> Magazine Coverage<\/h2>\n

Elsewhere on this site, we explore the rich and busy history of Space Battleship Yamato<\/em> publishing<\/a> in Japan. During the production years, it was a crowded field occupied by many different publishers and licensors all covering the same material in different ways. <\/p>\n

One such company was Shueisha, which published a very popular monthly magazine called Roadshow<\/em>. Its mission was to cover the latest in film and TV entertainment. Shueisha published a considerable number of Yamato<\/em> books, so in the spirit of mutual promotion, Roadshow<\/em> became a strong vehicle to increase visibility in the mainstream.<\/p>\n

From December 1978 to May 1979, they published a six-part Yamato Newspaper<\/em> that kept pace with Yamato 2<\/em> and reported on its many developments with the same editorial style as anything in the live-action world.
