Not every licensor associated with <em>Farewell to Yamato<\/em> had a Japanese name! The actual Pepsi Corporation took its first (and perhaps only) foray into anime licensing with a modest product line that gave fans a lot to chew on.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/352x32.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Promo posters for sketch pads &#038; keyholder mascots (left) and a book cover (right). Pepsi&#8217;s <em>Yamato<\/em> campaign seems to have lasted well past 1978, since the other book cover on the poster comes from <em>Maeterlinck&#8217;s Blue Bird<\/em>, an anime series produced by Yoshinobu Nishizaki that aired in 1980.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/apr25\/shitajikiposters.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">More promo, this time for <em>shitajiki<\/em>.<\/div>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/352x34.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Shitajiki<\/em> is the Japanese term for &#8220;pencil board.&#8221; If you had a pad of paper that lacked sufficient backing, you&#8217;d slide one of these babies into it and you were all set. The small one is a perfect size to store <em>Yamato<\/em> postcards in.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/jun09\/35213.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2>Marumiya Co.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Based solely on their <em>Yamato<\/em> products, Marumiya looks like it specialized in dishware. If you ever wanted to deck out your TV tray in <em>Yamato<\/em> regalia, they had just what you needed.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya01.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Child Lunch Set<\/p>\n<p>There were two different all-in-one sets with a full collection of eight pieces. The &#8220;Kodai set&#8221; made Kodai the central figure on some of them.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya02.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Yuki set&#8221; made her the central figure and swapped out a rice steamer for a second bowl.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya03.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Both sets came with the same tray, and all of the pieces were sold separately along with other types.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya04.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>There were also color variations, as seen in these two different versions of dishes from Kodai sets.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya05.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>In fact, colors weren&#8217;t limited to gender. They all seemed to be available in blue, pink, and white variants.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya06.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Flat plates were accompanied by deeper ones, shown here in both Kodai and Yuki styles.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya07.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Bowls were also included&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya08.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;as were cups featuring either Kodai or Yuki.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya09.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>If you looked a little farther, Marumiya also offered a set of mugs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya10.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>They used the same color variations, putting male characters on one side and Teresa on the other.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya11.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>If you liked sectional plates, Marumiya offered those too.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/jul25\/353plates.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya12.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>The box set had a simple plastic fork and spoon pairing, but there were separte metal versions in both Kodai and Yuki styles. This &#8220;triple set&#8221; included fork, spoon, and chopsticks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya13.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;whereas the &#8220;double set&#8221; left out the fork.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya14.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>And lest you think those were the only chopsticks available, you are sadly mistaken, my friend.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourstarblazers.com\/vault-images\/may23\/marumiya15.JPG\" border=0 \/><\/p>\n<p>Marumiya even made chopstick carrying cases (left) and much larger sets for the whole family to use (right).
