Opening from the 5th

The Yamato series, starting with Space Battleship Yamato in 1977, consisted of four films released in theaters. It was a popular anime series that attracted 300,000 viewers and earned ¥5.5 billion in distribution revenue. Each film captivated young audiences and sparked a major anime boom in the film industry.

And so, to reach a finale, The Final Chapter was released. It aimed to be a work on the same scale as the previous three films, and the producer had decided from the beginning to create it for 70mm screens, but unfortunately, it was not possible to make it in time for the premiere when it was released in theaters.

Therefore, in response to the fans, the art has been revised with approximately 30 new scenes about 15 minutes in length, and the entire film has been finished in 70mm. Furthermore, for the first time it will take advantage of the cool, crisp sound of large speakers. As a result, the sound of Yamato taking off from Earth into space is incredibly powerful. It is said that they have completely remade it.

In addition, a present that Yamato fans will love will be given away as fan service. From the opening of the event, the first attendees will receive original Yamato art, and all attendees will receive notebooks and stationary products printed with character illustrations. At a charity event, donating ¥1000 will get you ¥1000 worth of Yamato merchandise and donating ¥5000 will get you even more. Furthermore, a skillfully crafted Yamato model will be put up for auction.

Producer Nishizaki said, “we were able to complete the project as planned and achieve our goal of making it a success. We made it with a new design as a token of gratitude to the longtime Yamato fans.”

Well, I wonder if this really is the very last time.
