What are the highlights of Chapter 3?

Space Battleship Yamato heads for the center of the galaxy

The Grodez, which took Sasha and Niimi, challenges Yamato to a fight again as it heads for the center of the galaxy. Grodez can be made stealthy with “phase conversion armor.” Sasha and Niimi were taken away, despite Yamato‘s countermeasures against Grodez that were partially successful in the orbit of the 11th planet. How will Yamato fight the ambushing Grodez? Will it be able to recapture Sasha and Niimi?

Garmillas, which formed an alliance with Earth, is distrustful after Earth allows Dezarium to colonize it. The Bolar Federation, which divides the galaxy with Garmillas, is also an enemy of Earth. As Yamato advances toward the center of the galaxy, these two opposing forces are likely to become more and more uncertain.

A look inside the ship reveals some interesting human relationships. Domon and Ageha, who were classmates at the Space Defense Academy and were close enough to be called best friends, seem to have some kind of feud. After their unexpected reunion at the Icarus Observatory, the two have been clashing over various things. People around them are also concerned. In order for the classmates to unite and demonstrate their strength, there is an unavoidable path ahead.

Meanwhile, Kodai has lost Yuki and Sasha. Will we see him recover? He doesn’t even know that Yuki is alive on Earth. If we believe Director Fukui’s words, Kodai was on the brink of despair in Chapter 2 and we can expect to see him make a strong comeback in Chapter 3.

On Earth

Yuki is strong, voluntarily staying at Alphon’s mansion to gather intelligence about Dezarium. Alphon tells her, “We want you to understand us. And we want to understand the emotion of love.” She may turn her blade on his body when she finds out that Alphon has transferred his spirit to Grodez. The outcome of the story may depend on some kind of bond that has been born between Yuki and Alphon.

Another key person is Yasuo Nanbu, the heir to Nanbu Heavy Industries. His father, the president, participated in behind-the-scenes dealings, allowing Dezarium’s Grand Reverse to land on Earth. In the trailer, Nanbu points a gun at his father and speaks of the paradox of patricide. He also says that if he burns Van Gogh’s Starry Night in the museum, Dezarium’s true identity will be revealed.

As Yamato travels toward the space-time node, the former crew is also investigating the truth on Earth. In the original film, Be Forever Yamato (1980), Tasuke Tokugawa notices that Rodin’s The Thinker is reversed, and discovers Dezarium’s true identity.

While the partisans are formed by volunteers from the Earth Defense Force, Dezarium children begin studying at an Earth elementary school. This is supposed to be a measure to remove the barrier between Earthlings and Dezarium people, but how will this concept, which is not seen in the original story, develop in the future?

Dessler and Sasha

Sasha was taken away from Yamato by Alphon, but in the trailer, she’s shown as a grown-up, standing next to a person who seems to be Dessler. Did she grow up in a big leap (due to some event) from her two-year-old appearance, which we did not see in Be Forever? Or are there two Sashas? Either way, just like in Be Forever, Sasha is an important character who holds the key to the story. Her secret and future role are the points of interest above all else.

Dessler, who seized the resource-rich planet Galman from the Bolar Federation and founded a new Garmillas in Yamato 2205, is also a notable character. What is the significance of the battle between Yamato and Dessler’s flagship, Deusula III, with its fleet? The power struggle with the Bolar Federation led by Supreme Administrator Bemlayze is also of interest.

Hyperon bomb

The Andromeda-class space battleship Alpheratz, found in orbit around the 11th planet, was the first to come into contact with the Grand Reverse, which had entered the solar system toward Earth. All of the rescued crew members have brain dysfunction. From this situation, Sanada concluded that the Grand Reverse is a Hyperon bomb. If it is activated, it will be possible to reset the brains of all human beings on Earth. If Dezarium really is the human race of the future, is there any need to do such a thing? In Be Forever, a battle unfolded over the detonator, but what kind of concept will this work have?

While many questions are flying around, the eagerly awaited Ultramarine Asteroid will soon be released. We can’t take our eyes off the climax of Yamato‘s voyage.
